Currently since Aviation Market is growing up very rapidly, so it’s obviously not wrong to expect a lot from it.
Nowadays many people are incline to work in aviation industry.
So, all those who genuinely want to be a part of aviation industry are informed that they can go for aerospace or aeronautical engineering at the B.Tech. Level or study Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME).
On one hand where Aeronautical or aerospace engineering deals with the design and manufacturing of aircraft, AME trains on to serve the aircraft.
In the aviation industry, all three i.e., aeronautical engineers, aircraft maintenance engineers and pilots are indispensable, despite their duties are distinct.
The aviation sector mainly comprises of three main areas – aircraft design and manufacturing, maintenance and flying.
As discussed above, Aeronautical or aerospace engineering do involves the application of engineering principles and technicalities like how to design, construct and operate an aircraft. Aircraft Maintenance Engineers are those who are responsible to keep the aircraft in perfect flying conditions. AMEs are basically involved in the repair and maintenance of aircraft.
For those who wish to go for Aeronautical Engineering:
4 Year B.Tech. And 5 Year M.Tech. Dual degree programmes are available in aerospace or aeronautical engineering. These programmes are for those who’re Plus Two students with PCM, BioTech or Computer Science or Biology as subjects.
Aircraft Maintenance Engineering
Aircraft Maintenance Engineering is not a degree or diploma course. It’s a training programme, onto completion of which, a license is issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Govt. of India.
During the AME training, lessons are imparted for service and maintenance of aircraft, so as to assure the flight safety.
An aircraft maintenance engineering license training course is being offered by several institutes approved by DGCA.
One of those institutes is Bharat Institute of Aeronautics (BIA).
Situated in the premises of Jai Prakash Narayan International Airport, Patna, BIA is the best Aviation College in Patna and one of the top aircraft maintenance engineering colleges in India.
BIA Patna provides ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) standard of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Courses under one roof facility.
The institute as the top AME College in Patna, Bihar has been approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Govt. of India.
So, you can surely go for it if wants to pursue aircraft maintenance engineering from the best Aircraft Maintenance Engineering College in India.
Totake admission in Bharat Institute of Aeronautics or to pursue aircraft maintenance course from it, you’re require to fulfill the below mentioned eligibility criteria:
BIA Eligibility Criteria:
• Candidates should be 10+2 passed with PCM as major subjects.
• His/her minimum age should be 16 years.
• Candidates pursued diploma in Electronic, Electrical & Mechanical stream can also apply.
There is no Gender Discrimination in AME admission.
Both the boys and girls can seek admission.
For more detailed info on BIA Admission, you can refer: How to take admission in BIA Patna
Moving onto aircraft maintenance course:
A1
A1 license is a Basic Aircraft Maintenance Engineers license to cover up Jet Engine Powered Aeroplanes. The holders of this license are directly employable without Type-Rating.
Total Duration of A1 Course is 1+1 Years.
B1.1
B1.1 is a basic license including all the privileges of category A1. After pursing this aircraft maintenance course, the person becomes a full-fledged Aircraft Maintenance Engineer to cover maintenance, engine, mechanical, repair, replacement or rectification of structure and etc.
Total Duration of B1.1 Course is 2+2 Years.
Besides from all this, there are numerous other things in the life of an aircraft maintenance engineer.
AME trainees are required to undergo structural aircraft type courses.Further after the successful completion of the training programme, the
AMEs are provided with a basic aircraft maintenance training certificate. This is followed by an examination conducted by the DGCA.
All those who qualify the exam are awarded a license.
After getting the DGCA-AME license, the candidates are require to obtain regulatory license or approval on a type of aircraft. Like say if it’s a case of an Airbus or Boeing, candidates are require to obtain an individual license to service that particular type of aircraft.
Aircraft Maintenance Engineers are completely authorized to inspect the aircraft and certify its respective fitness.
Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Scope/ Job Opportunities
All those who successfully pursue the aircraft maintenance course, complete training and obtain DGCA’s license become eligible to get jobs in airports and aircraft manufacturing or maintenance firms with of course a handsome salary.
As more and more airlines start operations in the private sector, there will surely a spike in the demand for aircraft maintenance engineers and mechanics.
